GI-MAP stands for Gastrointestinal Microbial Assay Plus, and it is a stool test designed by Diagnostic Solutions Lab.

Any client who is currently enrolled in our nutrition coaching programs will have the option to add on GI-MAP or other lab testing. Specific labs recommended will vary depending on client goals, symptoms, progress and the treatment plan of their dietitian.

At Balance Chaos, we use the GI-MAP to gain insight into your gut microbiome and GI tract health. The results can help explain symptoms (including food & alcohol cravings, food sensitivities, digestion issues, and even your mental health) and inform which therapeutic diets, meal plans, and supplements will be most effective in getting you back to feeling your best.

Bloodwork and other lab testing is also available. We offer the option for clients to order labs directly through our service, without going through insurance.

While some lab testing is covered by insurance, other tests that we recommend are only covered partially or not at all. Ordering lab tests through us can save you money, time, and the frustration of dealing with insurance.

*It is important to note, that the GI-MAP stool test is not a clinically-validated test. This means that doctors cannot and will not use the results to diagnose, prescribe, or treat a condition. However, results from the GI-MAP can help your dietitian create a plan for you and nudge other healthcare providers to order further testing.

She also helped me shift away from my habit of eating sweets, and now I enjoy balanced meals that include desserts that work for me without compromising my health. I no longer worry about choosing what foods to eat, and she also taught me how to shop effectively at the grocery store, making healthier choices with ease.” – Charlane B.
